Star Wars Battlefront 2

Adrian Martinez

Star Wars Battlefront II, the sequel to 2004’s Star Wars Battlefront. Lucas Arts has released many Star Wars video game titles. However, they’ve outdone themselves with Battlefront II. Building on the premise of the original Battlefront engine, players once again can immerse them in the Star Wars universe. You can play as soldiers or pilots in the various armies and battle campaigns from all six Star Wars movies.
You can be good or evil; it’s your choice. Play as a member of the Rebellion, the Empire, the Separatists, or the Old Republic Clone Army. The detail is vivid and painstakingly rendered as you battle it out on worlds like Kamino, Coruscant, Endor, and Tatooine. For Battlefront II the list of worlds has been amended, with Episode 3 locations such as Mustafar, Felucia, Kashyyk, and Mygeeto. The detail of the worlds is so detailed it allows the player to explore the locales viewed only briefly in the movies.
Characters include the standard Infantry and Pilot classes for all military factions. These vary on the armies they are associated with. What’s cool is that in Battlefront II a hero or villain class is added to each army and when a certain point limit is reached the player has the option to play a hero or villain. The Heroes and Villains are as, you guessed, from all six different movies and range from Jedi, Sith, and non-Force characters. These characters have unique abilities and weapons.
Hero or villain characters are assigned depending on the campaign worlds. Geonosis will bring Mace Windu or Count Dooku, while Mos Eisley will bring Han Solo and Boba Fett, etc. Almost all of the major characters are covered, including Yoda, Darth Maul, Palpatine, and of course Luke. Aside from the epic ground combat, the game really shines in the space battles. Like the many options in ground warfare, the plethora of fighters is equally impressive.
Strategy is important when choosing a fighter, since different ships have different uses. The basic classes are drop ships for boarding parties, as its possible to raid an enemy hangar bay and sabotage an enemy ship from within, very cool. Another option is a bomber, which is ideal for striking critical targets on a capital ship like a Star Destroyer. The fighter class such as the X-Wing and Tie Fighter are solid well-rounded ships ideal for both dogfights and capital ships.
